Back The Wild Marauder
Everyone in the neighbourhood knows that Dora Parrish and Charlie, Lord Yelden, are the perfect couple. But when it seems that Charlie’s head has been turned by the London scene, Dora’s younger sister Fenella decides to remind him of what he is missing. Her solution is to ask a stranger, Mr Giles Beville, nicknamed Bev, to flirt with Dora under Charlie’s nose. The plan succeeds, and Charlie proposes to Dora, but soon Fenella wonders whether her move was a wise one. To her horror, she learns that Charlie intends to let Yelden Hall, and she goes to London to support her sister.

In London, she discovers that Bev is nicknamed ‘The Wild Marauder.’ Charlie, however, appears to be a wild marauder also, and he is risking everything, including his very home, to feed his gambling habit. Worse still Bev seems to be encouraging him. Fenella conducts her own investigation into Charlie’s behaviour, and finds herself plunged into scandal, which obliges Bev to offer for her hand. One disaster after another reveals Charlie’s true character, and Fenella, struggling to support her sister through appalling tragedy, dare not trust anyone, even Bev. Reluctantly, she admits that she has fallen in love with him; but how can there be love if there is no trust?
